Bella, the Amazing Conehead Dog!
We had our dog, Bella, spayed yesterday. Buddy dropped her off at the vet's office after he took me in to work, and he picked her up just before he picked me up. Surgery went well, and she's doing okay now. However, she's been licking at the incision obsessively. So today, he had to get her a cone to go around her neck. Her snout is so long, we couldn't put her in a large collar, because she'd be able to lick around it. So he had to get her an extra large, and as a result, she has no peripheral vision. I hate to laugh, but it's absolutely hilarious! She's bumping into doorways, running in to people when they aren't standing right in front of her, she can't get to her spot under the coffee table, and she's scared to jump onto the couch or chair because she can't see the whole thing. Buddy got some good pics of her, so they will be posted soon!

Ramblings from Preggoland!
So, I found out on Sunday that I am, "In the Family Way". We were both really shocked. I mean SHOCKED. We did not expect this to happen so soon, figured it would take months. Doctors had been telling Buddy for ten years that as the result of an accident he had while being a stupid young man, he would never be able to have children naturally. Unless he did In Vitro fertilization, it would never happen. So when we got married, we discussed it, and decided we'd try for a year, then we'd try the procedure with the money we would save over the course of said year.
Well, don't try to tell me the Powers-That-Be don't have a wicked sense of humor! Two and a half months was all it took, and one day, having missed my monthly visit from dear old Aunt Flo, I decided to take an extra Pregnancy test I had forgotten about in the medicine cabinet. And three minutes later, lo and behold, there was not one, but TWO pink lines in the reader. Needless to say, I didn't believe it at first. Not until I took two more home tests, and one at a doctor's office, did I finally admit to myself, "Okay, this is REALLY happening."
Now don't get me wrong, we are both thrilled. I had accepted when I married Buddy, that this might not happen for us. I was fine with it. I love him, so it's a small price to pay! And I shouldn't have been shocked that the doctors at Warren General were wrong (it's a running joke that these were the people that rode the short buses in med school!) The biggest thing for me was the idea that I am finally getting something that I desperately wanted! I have been praying and wishing for this for SO LONG, and I'm actually getting it! That is what is most unbelievable to me!
So now it's just getting ready. Playing the "Hurry up and Wait" game is hard for anyone, especially a person who is not prone to patience, such as myself! But I will, and it will pass, and in the end, as Buddy keeps reminding me, it will all have been worth it!
